After an incredible 6 month sold out run at The AMAZING Whitefire Theatre, in L.A., run by Bryan Rasmussen, our Director, Jim Fall (Trick, The Lizzy McGuire movie), myself and our 5 cast members, Alex Skuby (Santa Clarita Diet, King of Queens, The Fosters), Mo Collins (Fear The Walking Dead, MADtv, Lady Dynamite), Robbie Mangiardi, Peggy Maltby Etra (Seinfeld, Groundlings), Jessica Pohly(Goliath, Groundlings) and Drew Droege became a family and we kept extending and extending the show. So many people came up to us and said, “this is so great! You need to be on Broadway!” and that's meant the world to us as it's always been our dream to.
Doug (Alex Skuby) and his sister, Gina (Jessica Pohly) get into an argument about stealing coffee from a hotel room that leads to comedic disaster.
Laurie (Mo Collins) has a chat with a recliner that she suspects her husband loved MORE than her.
Doug (Alex Skuby), has to pretend that's he quitting acting...to act like a good son with the deceptive coaching of his mother (Peggy Maltby Etra).
Doug (Alex Skuby) struggles to connect with his Dad, but while they both talk, they don't hear each other.
"What makes the play a big success is its blatant, over-the-top, outrageous comedy that will not quit. The acting from the five-member ensemble is nothing short of brilliant under Jim Fall's slick and insightful direction...of Skora's fluid dialogue." Don Grigware - Broadway World
"The show boasts quick-witted, funny dialogue and vivid multi-dimensional characters. Surprisingly wise and funny. - Paul Birchall - Stage Raw
"This is a brilliant, laugh-out-loud comedy with gorgeously awful characters to love. Of course, every single actor is fantastic...But the writing is the star here. Howard Skora has invented quite a kooky and ridiculous lot.... The humor is loud and frank and beautifully wrought by these impressive actors, their perfect timing and their delicious characters. Bravo to the director Jim Fall for giving the words... the room they needed to be this good." Samantha Simmonds-Ronceros - NoHo Arts District
"Damaged Furniture offers a rip-roaring, adult look at expectations and challenges through the prism of a family from hell." Mary Mallory - Tolucan Times
"...Beyond Brilliant. Howard Skora's latest production, "Damaged Furniture," showcases his sublime sense of humor..." Kevin M. Thomas - ReelKev
"A play as well performed and profoundly written as Howard Skoras newest, Damaged Furniture, deserves the highest of accolades. Rarely have I seen a family dramedy with characters this sharp or dialogue this funny." - Bonnie Priever - Curtain Up
